I Am Comedian-Blog
After serving in the military for 15 years, my life is at a crossroads. Do I choose to do like everyone else and get the regular job or do I make my own path to what will hopefully lead to greatness? I am Comedian is my blog about my life as a comedian. I live in NC. Soon, will be a trip to New York which seems to be the comedy mecca. My decision, I know will effect my family and I know. For 15 Years of my life I took orders.
Now I am out of the military. Unemployed but looking to persue comedy. My friend and comedy counterpart started his own company that I am apart of. I want to change comedy. I believe I can be great. Last night I had a great performance. When I think of great comedians I think of Cosby,Pryor,Murphy,Harris,Rock,and Chapelle. Those names stick in my mind. The comedy game has changed. You don't have to be the funniest to make it in the buisness. I am a little apprehensive about New York but I want my chance to see if I can do great things as well. This blog is going to be my attempt to keep readers updated on my progress.

The New York trip didn't happen. Things fell through as they do in life. I found a show to perform at and that's what I did. I had to reach deep down and show myself I wanted this new lifestyle. The real work has always been the rehearsals. I fall back on those when I am onstage.. The better the rehearsal the better I perform. So I am off a week of doing comedy. I feel stronger. Some shows were good some were bad. I learn from the bad ones. Next up is Texas.. I am determined to do well in my home state. Only time will tell....

I know what your thinking and I am not David Copperfield. Why should I use a website that no one has even heard of? Well I have answer for you. P-Paul Pimpin (P-Paul who?) a comedian from North Carolina created a website that caters to mainly well comedians. It is a called mycomedianlife. So Mr. Pimpin asked me to review the website for it's usefullness.
1. It's useful you say?
I found the website useful. I believe that comedians everywhere can use it to support their craft. I love how Mr. Pimpin suggests you email him with any comments or suggestions. Hey the website has a lot of links to stores. Stores you say? Yes I would assume that Mr. Pimpin's idea for this to have stores that support the comedian. I was recently at a comedy show where the comedians performed with out a microphone, PA system, or even microphone stand. A stand-up comedians sin! Mr. Pimpin's site may have stopped those comedians from committing the sin. Damn comedians!!! How dare they!!
2. Do Comedians really need a website like this?
Well does the sun shine? Do cow's chew? Yes I believe this on is a no brainer. I am familiar with the comedic arts. I remember trying to piece voice recorders and microphones together from different stores all over town. It felt like a wild goose chase. Yes I ran after geese!! I am not ashamed. Should I be? Well Mr. Pimpin has made this simple for the average or not so average comedian he has brought the stores to you. Well not at your front door or anything, geez people, tough crowd. All you have to do is click on a link and bam your there. Almost like magic but not actual magic, internet magic ah you catch my drift! What can be easier? Mr. Pimpin also has links to airlines and hotels for you traveling or road comedians.
3. Does the website have anything to offer comedians?
Suprisingly the website has an interactive part to it. P-Paul Pimpin wrote that he feels comedians need to be able to interact with one another. So mycomedianlifehas a place for you as a comedian to leave comments. You can even leave anonymous comments. Mr. Pimpin tells me he wants to have a forum for comedic discussions. Pretty cool eeeh!!!

Well I think for comedians this website has great implications. You can get that missing PA system,Mic stand, and microphone. I looked at one store link and man they have a portable PA system with a handle and all. Like airport luggage but a speaker!! This website even has music links. I just creamed. Just kidding! This website is great the first of it's kind for comedians everywhere.

Is it user friendly? Can you click a mouse button? The navigation is kid proof. You don't have to be a genious. Mr. P-Paul Pimpin has even labeled where to go on the website. I encourage you to go to mycomedianlife and see for yourself. Explore have fun and leave comments. I have to go clean my pants.

Comedy
I am in love with comedy! Since I was a kid I have loved laughter. In my grown-up life I perform stand-up Comedy. I have always loved the greats in comedy. Bill Cosby,Richard Pryor,Eddie Murphy,Robin Harris etc. Comedy is a unique way to express your emotions. Like my friend and comedian Brandon Wright says,"comedy is a level playing field. We all have to start at the bottom in comedy." A reason I love stand-up comedy. I love to be onstage and just bieng able to connect to the audience. I am at an early stage in my comedy career but that seems to be when I am the most hungry!. Last night I performed at a bar and when I spoke the crowd turned their attention on me. It was a powerful moment for me. Performing at the dreadful bar is most comics nightmare due to the disruptions. People don't come to a bar to hear comedy. Last night that changed for me. I spoke and they listened and laughed. It was a night to remember. I am so glad I got it on tape! Comedian Brandon Wright said I killed it last night which was a first for me. So how do you start if you want to do comedy? Start by attending open mic sessions at local comedy clubs. You can also go to bars but remember they are not there to see you. Bars offer many disruption but with constant work you can power through those disruptions. Goodluck P-Paul Pimpin!!!!

Since I am the creator of a site called www.mycomedianlife.com. I decided to review it as if I were a customer. I found it a little simple due to bieng very early in its birth. I have plans to continue to upgrade the website. A positive note to the site is it is geared towards the comedic craft, to aspiring comedians and comedians. Now that doesn't mean you have to be a comedian to use the site. They are some great links to some great stores with great prices!! I would suggest this site to anyone. Especially any rappers,musicians or entertainers. The site will soon have a forum where comedians can interact with others. I feel strongly that comedians or aspiring comedians should have a central point where they can buy the things needed to hone their craft. I also feel like they are some great stores that musicians can use as well. I would without a doubt mention this website to a friend. It's www.mycomedianlife.com its for the funny in your life!!

For the love of music..
I am a music lover. I have always been. When I was a kid my first memories were of my father playing music from The Temptations. I was about 3 years old. Since then music has changed. I grew up during the 80's and 90's. So I watched the music scene progress to what it is today. I have even produced my own album not bragging. I just have always been in love with music.
My fear is that some genre's of music have lost their flavor. Okay so yes I am talking about Rap. From the early 80's when it was just about a message to what rap has become is distressing. It is all about the paper now days. I could remember being able to remember Dana Dane's whole verses. Kids today only know the chorus's of todays rappers. Have we really created a generation of thugs?
It would seem like the CEO's of the rap game are not interested in changing the path of destruction. The message is after about getting money. Funny that some many don't have any but yet they say get money. I hate to preach but this was not what rap was suppose to be. It was a way to relate to each others struggles not about getting paper,strippers,drugs,and murder.
If you are not familiar with a new form of rap called Christian rap the artist known as Lecrae says, "that rap died,rap was never alive." What rap was not suppose to be a quick way for people to get rich and shout get money all the time. It's been twisted and turned into music that I can't recognize today. You have artists with no talent making millions. It is really sad. What rap was and is now are two different biengs.
Call me old school who cares if your new school cost more than my old school. My old school made sense. It wasn't mindless,thoughtless and messageless rap. Rap had form a flow to it. Now they let artist who I won't mention shout stupidities on their CD's and call it music. Rap today has made me search out other forms of music. Rap was at one time the Black American's pride and joy now it has become a disgrace. For the love of music that was once called rap..

Lasting to long in bed could be a problem.
I was in a relationship with a female. My girlfriend and I had a sexual relationship. Well what I didn't realize was that lasting to long in sex could be a deal breaker to some women. This was a new relationship and well I guess I was excited, I mean she looked rather good. Maybe that is why I lasted so long. My girlfriend asked me was I taking pills? In which I replied no.
One night during our activities she tells me she has gotten a headache from me. So I laid there thinking did I really cause all this. Ladies feel free to chime in on this post. Could a man lasting to long be a deal breaker for you? As a couple me and my girlfriend tried pro-longing masturbation,which worked to an extent but wouldn't you know it I got hard again. So maybe bieng a 2 minute lover is a good thing? I am so confused. It has left it's mark on me. Now I ask any woman I date if I last to long during sex is that a problem for you?
